One of the profound strengths of our deen is that Allah ﷻ does not deny our emotions. Instead, He gives us the tools to control and surrender them so that none of them—anger, pride, jealousy, or desire—become our gods. Have you ever seen someone whose whims and emotions have taken over their life? Even with knowledge and understanding, they can still be led astray by these inner forces. The scariest gods are not the ones carved from stone or wood; they are the ones that live inside our minds. These hidden idols—our unchecked emotions and desires—are the most dangerous because no one else can see them. No one even knows we are worshipping them. Recognizing and dismantling these inner gods is what Allah ﷻ wants from us, so that our hearts remain devoted solely to Him.
