Sa’ar, Surah Luqman, Ayah 18

Prophet Luqman (PBUH) gives famous advice to his son “to not turn his cheek to people”. The word sa’ar here was used by the Arabs to describe a diseased camel whose neck is bent. Everyone around could immediately see that the camel was ill. This is the same as arrogance in a human heart. Even though you may not be aware of it, those around us can see it clearly. Using this word, Luqman (PBUH) is also telling his son to be intensely aware of the condition of his heart and ensure that it is never touched by arrogance.
