Throughout history until today there are many mosques that do not allow women to enter and those mosques that do have a place of worship for women many of them do not provide welcoming facilities for women to able to worship Allah in tranquillity. More so the notion of a woman participating in the decision-making of our mosques is almost unheard of in many places around the Muslim world.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said “Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from the Mosques of Allah” ~ [Collected by Sahih Muslim]
Striving to realize this Prophetic model, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) in conjunction with the Fiqh Council of North America supported by many Scholars and leaders called upon all mosques in North America to ensure that mosques are women-friendly and that women are actively participating in the decision-making process of the mosques, best realized by having women on the governing bodies of our mosques.
In this short video clip Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi shares his thoughts on this great revival of the legacy of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
