In this short snippet from the Surah Al-Waqi‘ah: A Deeper Look series, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into multiple examples of those referred to in the Quran as As-Sabiqoon—the forerunners who rush to do good deeds and draw closest to Allah.

Ustadh Nouman highlights the historical context of the people of Madinah (Ansar) during the time they welcomed the migrants from Makkah (Muhajiroon). Despite their humble circumstances—living in small one-room homes and often traveling long distances for basic necessities like food and water—the Ansar opened their homes and hearts to the Muhajiroon, earning their place among the As-Sabiqoon.

Through other ayat in the Quran, Ustadh also shows how this honored status isn’t limited to the earliest pioneers of Islam. Those who come later can likewise be counted among this esteemed group by excelling in good deeds and striving to be near to Allah.
