The very first lesson we learn from the story of Prophet Yusuf is that sometimes we must deal with harsh realities within our families and that as parents we must communicate warnings to our children very clearly. When Jacob advised Yusuf against recounting his dream of the sun, moon and planets prostrating before him, he had the insight to know that even siblings may harbor jealousy and be so psychologically insecure that the mere hint of something good coming your way is enough to make them snap, even to the point of scheming to harm you. The Quran teaches us to have emotional intelligence and to ensure that our children take precautions against unhealthy relationships.
