‘Umar rode his camel wearing a garment with fourteen patches, some of which were of skin. The Muslims said to him, “Commander of the Faithful, what about riding a horse instead of your camel and wearing good white clothes instead of these patched ones?” he rejected this and this is how he entered the sacred city.
